Friendship is Magic, Ch. 3Over the following weeks and many visits from several doctors, Tavros would learn that while his legs no longer functioned, the injury was low enough on the spine that most everything else worked well enough—a fact which seemed to please the doctors as much as himself. However, while he felt nothing when he was poked or prodded, there was still pain. Sometimes there was a lot more than he could handle and the nurses would allow him stronger painkillers. He slept a lot during this period, partly to escape how much it hurt, but also because the hospital room was boring and he could only watch so much television.

The interesting part came

All he was able to consciously recognize during the blips of wakefullness was that his back and head hurt, but he could not really feel his legs much at all. He started hearing voices at one point, and for a moment thought he saw Gamzee's face, then nothing for a while. Then he heard the sirens and a sort of vibrating feeling. More voices. Someone told him to hold on, but hold on to what? Was he going somewhere? He supposed so, since ever so slowly he managed to put together that the siren and vibrating must mean he was in an ambulance. Then he faded out again, reality slipping a
Friendship is Magic, Ch. 1Several years later--but not too many--that first day in the park was still far from forgotten, despite the years of playing with the quiet but easily entertained boy called Gamzee. In middleschool, they even went to the same school now. The first year there had been fun, with Gamzee always by his side though in trouble as often as he was not for his clownish classroom antics such as flicking crumbled paper balls about when he was bored. More spectacular were the answers he would come up with when asked a question by the teachers while he was daydreaming, which always made Tavros laugh. This was one such day.

Friendship Is Magic: PreludeAt a small playground in a park in a suburb, a little boy named Tavros Nitram sits playing alone in a sandbox, a raggedy stuffed animal next to him that still manages to resemble a shabby brown bull despite visible wear. The little boy builds little mounds in the sand, decorating them with leaves and bits of grass, giggling to himself and explaining to the toy what he is doing.
